Smart glasses for astigmatism: which ones take your cylinder
Short answer: astigmatism (the CYL number on your prescription) can be corrected in any smart glasses that take custom prescription lenses or inserts. Only a few brands publish a cylinder limit: Even Realities ±4.00 and Halliday ±3.00. Meta folds cylinder into a "total power" range.
Focus dials don't fix it. XREAL's own guide says diopter adjustment has no astigmatism support.
Published cylinder limits by model
| Model | Cylinder | What the maker publishes |
|---|---|---|
| Even Realities G2 | CYL +4.00 to −4.00 | Even support guide (SPH +8.00 to −12.00) |
| Halliday G2 | CYL −3.00 to +3.00 | Halliday product page (SPH −9.00 to +2.00) |
| Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) | Counted in total power | Meta gives a total-power range (sphere + cylinder combined), not a separate cylinder limit |
| Solos AirGo 3 | Not published | Solos publishes a sphere range only (−15.00 to +10.00 SPH, 1.74 index) |
| Rokid Glasses | Not published | Rokid store: magnetic prescription frame for myopia and astigmatism (sphere listed as +15 to −15 on Rokid Australia) |
| XREAL One Pro | Not published | XREAL's own lens order form takes CYL and axis for each eye |
| VITURE Luma Pro | No (focus dial) | Built-in myopia adjustment to −4.0 D; no astigmatism correction stated |
How cylinder counts against "total power" limits
When a brand gives a total-power range, the strongest direction of your lens has to fit. In minus-cylinder notation that is sphere plus cylinder: SPH −3.00 with CYL −2.50 reaches −5.50. A range that stops at −6.00 still fits; one that stops at −4.00 does not. The Rx checker does this arithmetic for every model.
Labs and higher cylinders
Most independent labs don't publish a cylinder limit. Lensology (single vision from $47) says: "No published maximum. The order form takes SPH beyond ±10.00, CYL beyond ±2.00 and prism as "specialist" prescriptions with extra processing time." Other labs ask you to contact them; see each lab's page under lens labs.
Before you order
- Use your most recent prescription and include the axis; labs need it to orient the cylinder.
- If your prescription uses plus cylinder, ask your optician for the minus-cylinder version before comparing it with published limits.
- Strong sphere as well? Read smart glasses for high prescriptions.
FAQ
Can smart glasses correct astigmatism?
Yes, if they take custom prescription lenses or inserts. Even Realities publishes a cylinder range of ±4.00 and Halliday ±3.00; Meta counts cylinder inside its total-power range. Built-in focus dials only change sphere and do not correct astigmatism.
Do diopter dials work for astigmatism?
No. XREAL's own buying guide rates diopter adjustment as having "no astigmatism support"; prescription inserts are needed.
