Short answer: Meta's help center gives −12.00 to +6.00 total power for Ray-Ban Meta, and −6.00 to +4.00 for the Gen 3 Aviator.

Why you also see −6.00: Meta's own Store guide lists Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), the Blayzer and Scriber Optics frames and Oakley Meta HSTN at −6.00 to +6.00. Both pages are live, so ask the seller which limit it uses before you order.

How to work out your total power

Your prescription lists SPH (sphere), CYL (cylinder) and AXIS for each eye, plus ADD if you need reading power. "Total power" means sphere and cylinder combined.

  1. Use the eye with the stronger numbers.
  2. If your CYL is written as a minus number, add it to the SPH: SPH −4.00 with CYL −2.00 reaches −6.00.
  3. If your CYL is written as a plus number, ask your optician to give it to you in minus-cylinder form, or let the Rx checker convert it.

Over the limit? Your options

  • Ask the certified retailer which of Meta's published limits it applies to your frame.
  • Consider a frame with a wider published range. Gen 3 Wayfarer is listed at −12.00 to +6.00 total power; see high-prescription smart glasses for other brands.
  • Use an independent lab that publishes support for strong prescriptions. Ray-Ban says lenses added outside certified retailers end the manufacturer warranty.

Lensologyfrom $47No published maximum. The order form takes SPH beyond ±10.00, CYL beyond ±2.00 and prism as "specialist" prescriptions with extra processing time.
Tajima Directfrom $249No published maximum; says it regularly fills prescriptions beyond Meta's limits (asks very strong Rx to email first).

FAQ

Is the Ray-Ban Meta limit −6.00 or −12.00?

Both figures are published by Meta. Its help center lists −12.00 to +6.00 total power for Ray-Ban Meta, while its Store guide lists −6.00 to +6.00 for Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) and the Optics frames. Ask the seller which limit applies before ordering.

What does total power mean?

Total power combines sphere and cylinder. In minus-cylinder notation, a prescription of SPH −4.00 with CYL −2.00 reaches −6.00 in its strongest direction, so it sits at the edge of a −6.00 limit.

What if my prescription is stronger than Meta allows?

Ask a certified retailer which limit it applies, or use an independent lab that publishes support for stronger prescriptions. Ray-Ban says the manufacturer warranty only stays intact when lenses are added at a certified retailer.
